Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear

is an action game with tactical elements. It came out originately from  books of a famous spy novelist Tom Clancy. Property of Red Storm Entertainment, Inc.

The game is about the United Nations' special antiterrorist task force with secret name Rainbow Six. It's divided into missions, in linear  appearance. The completion of a mission is followed by unlocking of a next mission, and so on.

The conception of each mission, hence the game, is divided in two phases:

• Mission phase, or briefing. You are introduced with orders, enemies and the terrain. In this part you choose a task force which can be divided in teams (maximum of four teams: blue, red, green and gold, each with up to four members). You can take up to 12 specialists. After you selected members, you choose a gear: the type of a uniform, and the weapons. It is very important to complete this part in a right way, because the mistakes made here can cost you dearly later in the action phase.

• Action phase.  First and third views are switched on F1 key.You can choose a member to lead with Page UP i Page Down keys, but the choice is limited on team leaders (if the team leader dies, or get incapacitated, the commands are shifted onto the next man in line). Keyes from 1 to 4 on a keyboard are for the inventory, with 1 for a primary weapon (automatic rifle or sniper), 2 for a secondary weapon (pistol), and 3 and 4 on the keyboard are for choosing. The choice varies form grenades, smoke bombs (very useful on raids in rooms where terrorists hold hostages, because they're not lethal but freak terrorists out), lock pick and  electronics kits and a heart beat sensor. Key number 5 is very useful, for it turns the night vision on.

After you started the campaign, you choose a difficulty level. You are offered Veteran level, which I accepted after disastrous adventure on Elite level, not made for human beings. :)

Missions

Let's see how I am doing. Here are the missions I have finished. Important: you cannot save the position during the mission. You must get the job done in one stroke.

M01 Pandora Trigger

Location: New York, USA. Muslim terrorists stormed the famous Metropolitan museum, and they hold all attendants of grand opening of Egyptian culture exposition hostage. Mission orders: Rescue all hostages.  

It looks serious, but it don't need to. All hostages (3) are on ground level, so there's no need for long chases around the halls, which can only result in loosing or getting killed.

M02 Arctic Flare

Location: Japan. Radical environmentalists had taken an oil tanker with workers taken hostage. They had a bomb aboard also. Mission orders: Rescue all hostages; Prevent bomb detonation.

If you accept HQ mission plan, do not let a gold team sniper to rumble, or he will find a perfect spot, cross his legs like a sultan, locate a target on the bridge which is to the north pole and take him out. Soon after the game is over, after twenty long seconds of play time, because the terrorists have killed hostages.

M03 Sand Hammer

Location: Oman. Muslim terrorists had taken a chemical plant and they threaten to release the toxin. Mission orders: Rescue all hostages; Prevent the release of the toxin.

The toxin release controls are on a plant's ground level, closest to a first entry point, next to a barrack (two terrorists inside). Blue and red team go right to it.

M04 Lost Thunder

Location: Djakovica, Kosovo. Serbian paramilitaries had taken down a NATO chopper which was on a return trip from Pristina, with some very important officers abroad. Mission orders: Rescue all hostages.

This one is condemned. Although the creators noted that it's not a regular units who are enemies, and that the official Belgrade gave a silent agreement, our soldiers and police are on the terrain. When you get bored of killing your own team members, finish this just to get next mission unlocked.

M05 Perfect Sword

Location: Brussels, Belgium. Muslim terrorists hijacked an airplane on Brussels' International airport. Mission orders: Rescue all hostages.

Excellent mission. True antiterrorist action. Surely You've noticed often appearance of Muslim terrorists.  It is because of their actions were connected. They were coordinated through a terrorist network led by Samed Vezirzade, Azeri (?) organized crime leader, born in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Any similarity with Osama Bin Laden is, surely, pure coincidence. :)

M06 Crystal Arc

Location: Georgia. Mission orders: Deactivate security; Bug phone; Place camera; Get everyone to extraction zone.

Since one of Samed's associates came forward, it was decided to go ahead with the surveillance of his headquarters, despite absence of Vezirzade himself. This is one man show, and you are offered Pak Suo-Won, Korean with ninja capabilities. This is the most difficult mission so far, because you cannot use weapons, but rather sneak your way through the compound guarded by many guards. If they see you, mission fails. Advice: you must include in your inventory the electronics kit, or else you won't be able to do much (you can do without binoculars this time, so change slot 3). Here I'm stuck. You proceed.

M07 Silent Drum

Location: London, England. Terrorists have stormed a television studio in London during a broadcast debate, with senior officers from the central banks of a few European countries. Objectives: rescue all hostages.

This mission was no significant problem. My advice is to follow the given wave points of teams 'till the point of entering the studio where the hostages are. You can finish the mission quickly with the blue team who is due to move on the railings just above terrorists.

M08 Feral Burn

Location: St. Petersburg, Russia. intelligence sources found that Vezirzade is planning to buy large shipment of weapons from sources within the Russian military. Objectives: neutralize all terrorists.

Easy now, the mission is not Rambo style, because if you storm the place shooting, the bosses will escape through the rear exit. Before you stretch your killer finger, be sure to have green and red team securing patrols and drivers around expensive cars, thus preventing the escape from a hangar.

M09 Diamond Edge

Location: Murmansk, Russia. Intelligence have come up with the identity of a person within the Russian army who was selling the weapons to terrorists. Objectives: capture Russian colonel.

This one was tricky. You have to raid a weapons storage facility and take control of any remaining nuclear weapons grade plutonium. You must be very silent, otherwise the guards would raise the alarm, and your prey board the armed vehicle and with a wave pass you by.This was very stressful, because I do all the works, penetrate the location of the colonel, but unable to prevent him boarding the vehicle. Then I discovered the power of a grenade. .Bit of advice: the colonel will not come with you until you eliminate last of the enemy.

M10 Silver Snake

Location: Georgia. Objectives: download computer files; Get everyone to extraction zone.

Sweet revenge. You are returned on site of M06, this time with the license to kill. You have to raid the meeting at Vezirzade's Georgian dacha and obtain a set of computer files containing details of his nuclear weapons purchases. Common language speaking, shoot in everything that moves!

Not quite, it's a bit difficult clearing the very room where the computer is. If you stumble, a terrorist in the room will jump on a computer and destroy the files.

M11 Oracle Stone

Location: Smolensk, Russia. Intelligence gathered from the raid on Vezirzade's dacha has revealed that Kutkin, Barsukov's son in law, is assembling nuclear weapons at unknown location in Siberia. Objectives: Bug phone; Place camera; Get everyone to extraction zone.

Oh no, another recon mission! Truth, somewhat easier than the previous one, for it can be finished! :) Again no one is allowed to see you. It was very frustrating when you do the bulk of sneaking, only to be discovered by an entertainment lady (the spa is full of them) who just glances at you while casual walking, and you hear that awful mission failed.

M12 Temple Gate

Location: Prague, Czech Republic. Terrorists have stormed the Opera House in Prague during a command performance. The Czech president has been taken hostage, along with several diplomats. Objectives: rescue all hostages.

This raid was the revenge for assault on Vezirzade's dacha. It's very hard, because terrorists hold hostages im the middle of the stage, and on a first sign of trouble they shoot them. How I managed to complete this mission. I released one hostage while he was escorted to the bathroom, and the same team I placed on the balcony, in a way terrorists don't see them. I sent the red team behind stage. I let the computer guide the blue team and thus eliminated targets distant form the scene. Then I raided with the red team after I fragged the stage and managed to eliminate all hostiles before they fire at the hostages.

M13 Sargasso Fade

Location: Sargasso Fade. intelligence gathered from Kutkin's spa has located his nuclear weapon production facility in an abandoned radar base in Siberia. Objectives: place explosives.

This is a two-stage mission. Despite the briefing warned you that you will not have the opportunity to assign new operatives between stages, on a Veteran level I was playing that was not true, and the computer assigned reserves automatically. In this phase you are required to cut the communication between the facility, guarded by Russian soldiers, and the rest of the world.

M14 Majestic Gold

Location: Siberia. Now with communication between the base and the outside world cut, you have to enter the main complex and use explosive charges to destroy the core of the bomb manufacturing facility. Objectives: place explosives.

Careful, there are a lot of Russian soldiers in armored vests.

M15 Frost Light

Location: Smolensk, Russia. Susan Holt, your expert advisor, and Barsukov, are captured by Kutkin's men and taken to his spa. Objectives: rescue Lukyan Barsukov; Rescue Susan Holt.

They are being held in separate wings of the estate. Holt is easier to free, because she is in a wing nearer to you. Barsukov is best to free not by given wave points, but the alternate route, without leaving the villa, simply continue along the corridor form where Susan have been held.

M16 Hero Claw

Location: Moscow, Russia. Barsukov has revealed that Kutkin is planning to personally deliver two remaining nuclear devices to Vezirzade's men in a train yard in Moscow. Objectives: neutralize all terrorists.

When you clean the area around the wagons, you should park the sniper "on a tree" and then you can relax. He will take care that no one escapes.

M17 Ebony Horse

Location: Azerbeijan. Captured Vezirzade's terrorists men has revealed their boss' location, deserted medieval castle. Objectives: neutralize all terrorists.

The entrance is through a sewage shaft, not the main gate! Samed Vezirzade doesn't have to be kept alive.

M18 Zero Gambit

Location: Cherkasy, Ukraine. Kutkin and his men have seiyed the nuclear power plant in Ukraine. They are threating to shut off its cooling system, triggering a reactor meltdown. Objectives: prevent the terrorists from triggering a meltdown; Neutralize all terrorists.

The last mission, very hard this one. Mission objectives have to be completed in the order they are given. Terrorists are positioned in two places, very far one from another, and they keep in touch through radio, which means that if you come in shooting, you will have a minute or so till the meltdown initiation, or couple of seconds, depending whom and where you attack.
